Original Recordings and Project Media

A ScreenSage Pro project retains the original screen, camera, and recorded audio media together with timeline and effect settings. Original media does not contain backgrounds, captions, zooms, masks, or music added in post-production.

When Original Media Is Useful

  • Keep an untouched copy of the recording inputs.
  • Compare source media with a final export when investigating crop, zoom, or audio issues.

How It Differs from the Final Export

The final export composites the timeline, audio, and effects. Original media represents the recording inputs. Use Export HD Video for a directly viewable deliverable, and keep the .screensage project when you may need to edit again.

Back Up Project Media

Do not back up only the exported MP4 or MOV. Keep the .screensage project with its complete contents, then reopen the backup once to confirm that screen, camera, and recorded audio still play correctly.

PRO TIP

An exported file is a deliverable, not an editable project backup. Before deleting a project, confirm that you will not need another aspect ratio, caption version, or clean export later.
